Sports Production
I have had the opportunity to live stream a variety of sports at Wichita State University. We streamed women’s basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball for ESPN; as well as track and field, eSports, rowing, and intramural basketball to our own YouTube channel.
I’m very familiar with Blackmagic Design production switchers. I’ve also used Ross XPression graphic systems as well as vMix and OBS. I’ve used Dante audio delivery and intercom systems as well as Unity Intercom for different productions. I’ve also used many different video transport methods from fiber to IP.
2021 Plains Regional Regatta
I handled all the broadcast engineering needs for this production. We had seven cameras (four manned), three commentators, athlete interviews, instant replay, and almost 2 miles of fiber cable run along the river. I also designed all the graphic elements and used CSS to style the live results website to match.
American Conference Track and Field Championship 2019
In 2019 we had the pleasure of streaming three full days of activities for the American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. I created all the graphic elements as well as assisted with setup of all cameras, control room, and cable runs.
2021 Intramural Basketball Championships
Due to COVID we limited our footprint in the area as much as possible and brought all signals back to our studio control room across campus. Comrex products were used to transmit video and audio signals through IP. I was responsible for all broadcast engineering and creating the graphical elements. We utilized vMix for live graphics and score keeping.
NCAA sports
For the 2017-2018 season, WSUTV streamed many of the NCAA sports including Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, and Women’s Basketball. I controlled and created all the live graphics using Ross XPression graphics software.
eSports Rocket League Tournament
This was a hybrid production with the players at home and the commentators in studio. We had to keep everyone separated to maintain safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. I provided broadcast engineering for this production. Challenges included interfacing our studio audio with the players at home.
